  • KISS OF DEATH BALLOT
(Unused Ballot from Capitol Theatre in Toronto for the 1947 Film)
    no date (1947)
    175.00
Condition for this unused ballot is near fine with slight edge wear.Size is 6” x 6".
An unused ballot issued for the showing of the 1947 Film Noir classic Kiss of Death. The ballot consists of a blocked off area at the top, then places for the contestant’s name and address, then text which states, “If your kiss imprint is most like Coleen Gray’s – you win a free ticket to see …” The dates for the movie showing in December are for the 8th, 9th and 10th of December (1947). “After placing your kiss imprint above give the form to the attendant.”

Most likely the winning ballot was just randomly selected and not matched up to Coleen Gray’s kiss imprint. Typical Canadian theatre offers only one ticket to the winner.

The 1947 film starred Victor Mature, Coleen Gray, and is probably most remembered for Richard Widmark’s first film performance as psychotic, giggling killer “Tommy Udo”. Coleen Gray played the part of Victor Mature’s second wife (his first went crazy and killed herself leaving the two children with an orphanage), who first met Mature’s character as the babysitter.

An extremely scarce piece of Toronto movie theatre and Film Noir history.
