    Original program for Canada's version of the USO, among the performers are Sgt Frank Shuster and Sgt. Johnny Wayne. The shows were broadcast on CBC Radio Sunday nights at 9pm. A great programme with photos and short articles (CWACS, Rehearsal story, This Is Your Army). Scarce.

    "The Association... has for its object the formation of a central body whereby relatives and friends of Prisoners may receive, collect and exchange views, thus obtaining information which would not otherwise be available. In this way the Association is able to fulfill certain duties which are beyond the scope of the Red Cross and the Y.M.C.A."

    Sent primarily to family members of Canadian P.O.W.s during World War 2. This Christmas 1942 issue contains information on what can and cannot be sent to POWs, where to send, brief reports from various prison camps, and more. The back cover has various advertisers with information on sending their products to prisoners (Eaton’s, Sweet Cap cigarettes, Ogilvy’s and Henry Morgan).

    The page of illustrations contains three views of camp life, including one depicting a hockey game.

    "RCAF serial number 5625. Constructed by Canadian Car and Foundry and fitted with a Packard-Merlin 29 engine on January 26, 1943. The aircraft served as a Canadian defense fighter until struck off RCAF records in 1945. The aircraft is currently under restoration and is owned by 'The Tiger Boys' Group in Guelph, Ontario, Canada."

    According to online records the plane that this swatch of fabric originated from was: “Operated by No. 1 Photo Reconnaissance Flight at RCAF Station Rockcliffe, Ontario in 1943. To No. 1 Air Command on 15 January 1945. Operated by No. 7 (P) Wing, RCAF Station Rockcliffe, Ontario in fall of 1945. Pending disposal from 5 July 1946, with No. 9 (T) Group at RCAF Station Rockcliffe, Ontario. Had 417:40 total time when struck off. Sold to Mr. R. Reid of Reid's Flying Service of Guelph, Ontario. Delivered from Rockcliffe to Guelph on 19 October 1946. Civil flight approval requested, but not granted. Displayed outdoors at Guelph 1947 to 1956. Reported in scrap yard in Guelph after that. Remains sold to R. Walker of Regina, Saskatchewan in 1980. Parts used to restore Hurricane 5711.     Caption underneath fabric reads: "Manufacturer's serial number DHC-1073. Constructed on April 8, 1941 in a lot of 136 fitted with a 120 h.p. Menasco engine for the RCAF. It served as trainer S/N 4882, and was struck off RCAF records in 1945. The aircraft is fully restored to original flying condition and currently owned and operated by "The Tiger Boys" Group in Guelph, Ontario, Canada."

    According to online records this plane that this swatch of fabric originated from was: "With No. 1 Service Flying Training School at Camp Borden, Ontario. Had 447:15 airframe time when struck off. To civil register post war as CF-DGD, based at Guelph, Ontario. Wrecked during Hurricane Hazel in 1959, deregistered. Later registered as CF-TBS. Reported owned by M. Woods of Killarney, Manitoba from 2 January 1968, but not confirmed. Registration cancelled in 2000. Now one of the Tigerboys Tiger Moths at Guelph. Registered to T. Dietrich of Kitchener, Ontario et al. Owners since 12 January 2006, latest Certification of Registration issued on 3 April 2006. On display at CFB Trenton air show in July 2009.     Condition for this poster is about good with some chips to the top corners and at the top centre, few small tears along the edges, fold marks with a few small holes at the cross points of some of the folds, some darkening at the top which is more evident on the back of the poster. Written in pencil on the poster is a small note, “To Heather, From Pop. 1 Jul 45”.Size is 17 ½” x 22 ½”, printed on one side only.
    From the Canadian Military Police Association website: "On July 1, 1945, No. 2 Division held a big Mardi Gras at Bad Zwischenahn featuring a real Canadian midway, a rodeo, races, picture shows, stage shows, a parade of floats, an exhibition of rocket-firing Typhoon fighter planes, one-man German submarines and German large-calibre guns, duo fireworks and swimming and boat races. A real first of July celebration!”

    Extremely scarce poster printed in Germany for the 2nd Canadian Infantry’s Dominion Day celebrations held at the Bad Zwischenahn Airfield in Germany just after the end of the war.
